Senior High School |
|
|
| The
Breckenridge Senior High School (Grades 9-12) is a quarter/semester
four period per day
program. This allows a wide variety of courses and instructors. There are fourteen
different departments within the senior high school offering over 100 different courses.
College courses are offered for college credit in Math, English,
Social Studies and Speech. Advanced classes are offered in Science, Mathematics, English and Industrial Education. A
wide variety of Social Studies classes are offered. Spanish is offered as
a foreign language. There are twenty-six classroom teachers plus counselors, special
education instructors, speech therapists and psychological service personnel.
A weekly advisor/advisee program is based on the Peaceful
Solution Program. In
addition to a full academic and vocational program, Breckenridge Public Schools offer a
full extracurricular program for interested students. Some programs offered are as
follows: Football, Boys/Girls Basketball, Girls Volleyball, Boys/Girls
Track, Boys/Girls Golf, Wrestling, One and Three Act Plays, Girls Softball, Boys
Baseball, Gymnastics, Student Council, Hockey, Boys/Girls Cross Country, Cheerleading, Declamation, Language Club, Letter
Club, Pep Band
and National
Honor Society. |

Breckenridge Elementary/ Middle School is designed to meet the needs of primary,
intermediate and middle school students. The curriculum is geared to develop the children
in basic skills and to meet the special needs of students. Flexibility, integration,
variety and balance are the key considerations in planning daily programs. Special
teachers are used in areas of vocal music and physical education. The school has special
supplemental teachers for tutoring, small group instruction and individualized instruction
for those students needing this kind of attention. Specialists are employed in special
education, speech therapy , special learning disabilities, instrumental music, physical
education activities, counseling and psychology. |

St. John's Preschool is a licensed preschool which meets three,
half days per week during the regular school year. Both morning
and afternoon sessions are available. The preschool class enjoys
many learning activities rich in language, math, exploration,
computer, and library, as well as poetry, music, and motor
development. Special emphasis is placed on religious values
through classroom management, giving thanks, and bible stories
at the student level. It is a great before kindergarten
