Ice Skating - "Learn to Skate"
registration forms will be available at the Wahpeton Parks and Recreation Department,
Wahpeton City Hall, 1900 North 4th St., Wahpeton. The classes are
a great opportunity for recreational skaters, hockey preparation and figure skating
preparation. All skaters ages 4 & up are invited to participate. An
adults-only class will be offered. All basic skills skaters are invited to participate in the
annual ice show in March. Rental skates are available at the

Youth Wrestling - Wahpeton Wrestling Club is for youths. Contact area schools for registration and fee information.
Volleyball - Fall Volleyball
Leagues include Coed and Women's. Sand volleyball courts are
located in Chahinkapa Park. Volleyballs may be borrowed from
the Parks and Recreation Department. The Wahpeton Armory is
available for use to groups who wish to use indoor volleyball

Basketball - Girls Basketball
for 1st through 6th Grade registers at Wahpeton Middle.

Baseball - The Wahpeton Baseball/Softball Committee
meets on the first Sunday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall. The
Baseball/Softball Committee has been formed to help support the youth baseball/softball
programs in Wahpeton

Pee Wees, Midgets, Pony League, VFW Babe Ruth Baseball, American
Legion Baseball and Richland County Babe Ruth Baseball. The main field is Wahpeton is John

Hockey - The BW Blades Hockey
Association is a co-op between Breckenridge and Wahpeton manages the
organized youth hockey program utilizing the Sterns Sports Arena.

| Cross Country Skiing - Enjoy the
refreshing sport of cross-country skiing on ski trails which follow the outside contour of
the Bois de Sioux Golf Course. Cross-country skis can be rented fat the
Rosemead Chalet. Trails will only be made when we are certain that no golf turf will

Skating Pond - Warming House Hours, the Chahinkapa Park skating pond and rink will be
supervised from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on week days and 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on weekends. Concessions, inner-tubes, snow shoes, and cross-country

Sledding/Tobogganing Hill - In
Wahpeton, the warming house is
open from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on week days and 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on weekends.

Outdoor Ice Skating Rink & Sledding Hill - In Breckenridge, this area
is located on Beede Avenue and 6th Street North. Facilities
include a lighted Hockey Arena and open skating area with a sledding
hill and open grass areas. A community recreation center
is also located here.

Public Skating - The Stern Sports Arena is open
Sunday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The cost is $1. Skate sharpening, skate
rental, and season passes available. Skate cop on ice, DJ
music. Stern Arena has a large assortment of rental figure skates available for use in the
Arena. Hockey skates for younger users available as well and are also available for

The Southern Valley Figure Skaters Club welcomes skaters
who are interested in individual skating lessons. Any skaters, beginning or advanced
are welcome. Ice packages are available for individual training with private

Snowmobiling - The
Southern Valley Trail Riders
Association is a non-profit corporation formed in the
early 1970s. The purpose for which the club was organized was to encourage safe
snowmobiling, to act in the interests of snowmobile owners, to preserve and promote winter
sports activities, to groom and maintain trails, to foster the conservation and growth of
area natural resources, and to perform all lawful functions inherent in the successful
operation of the Club.
The Richland County Trail System is a
200-mile groomed snowmobile trail that links nearly every city in
the county and the neighboring Fargo trail system to the north.
*Snowmobile Safety*
It is unlawful for any person 12 years of age & older who has not reached 16 years of
age and who is not in possession of a valid driver's license or permit to operate a
snowmobile, except upon lands of the person's parent or guardian, unless & until the
person has completed a snowmobile safety course and has received the appropriate
snowmobile safety certificate. Registration forms are available at the Parks &

from 6 am to 10 pm and weekends from noon to 10 pm.

Koda Manipe Volkssport Club - The Koda Manipe
Volkssport Association of Wahpeton, ND and Breckenridge, MN was officially formed in
January, 1987 and became the third club in North Dakota. The local club's name
derives from the Sioux Indian words meaning "group of friends walking." If
you are interested in joining the club or wish to support volksmarching,
contact the Wahpeton Parks & Recreation Department at 701-642-2281.
Distance is 10K (6.2 miles). The Wahpeton-Breckenridge
walk is being dedicated to Jerry Jorgenson, Abercrombie, who
started the Koda Manipe Volkssport Club. Jerry was the Trailmaster
and Lois was President of the club. They were avid
volkssporters. Jerry greatly enjoying walking with his 'diamond
willow' walking stick and accompanied by his wife Lois and dog
(faithful companion) "Hector." |

| Golf Course |

| The Bois de Sioux Golf Club is the
only public golf course in the nation to have nine holes in one state and nine holes
located in another state. The front side is in Wahpeton, ND, and the back side is in
Breckenridge, MN. The course measures approximately 6,700 yards and is challenging
for the skilled and entertaining for the novice. The course offers watered greens,
tees, and fairways. The club has been the home of a number of state
tournaments. Hours may vary depending on weather and course activity. Contact

Three Rivers Gymnastics is a
non-profit organization, providing a variety of gymnastics opportunities for youths.
Equipment includes a 40' x 40' spring floor, a 70' vaulting runway and vaulting horse, two
sets of uneven parallel bars, seven padded balance beams, three short beams, two

Three asphalt tennis courts are available at
Chahinkapa Park located at 1st Street and 7th Avenue North.
Six concrete courts are available at the North Dakota State College
of Science located at 7th Street and 12th Avenue North.
In Breckenridge, tennis courts are located in Welles Memorial
Park which is located on the west end of Nebraska Avenue at the
Senior High School Athletic Complex at 710 N 13th Street. |

| Hunting |

Wahpeton Breckenridge is located
near excellent hunting areas. It is 30 miles away from
prime pheasant hunting. There are large numbers of Canada
geese throughout the fall season. Area rivers have good
populations of wood ducks. Tewaukon National Wildlife Refuge
and the prairie pothole region is only an hour away, providing
habitat for migrating waterfowl, including the major route for snow
geese in the spring. Whitetail deer populations are high.
There are good opportunities for nontraditional wildlife, including
furbearers, mourning doves, partridge, turkeys, squirrels and
rabbits. For licensing

has excellent fishing areas. The Red River of the North

Bird Watching |

| Several habitats can be
found in the Breckenridge Area that offers wonderful birding
opportunities. Native tall grass prairie, woodlands, park
areas, bogs, large and small lakes and rivers that provide riparian
habitat are all found around Breckenridge and the Wilkin County
area. Birds such as waterfowl, shorebirds, gulls, terns and
migrant sparrows can be found. The best time to visit is April
through May and September through October. The Water Treatment
Ponds are located just north of Breckenridge along Highway 9.
Viewing from the township road is permitted. For access inside
the ponds area, prior permission is required. Contact the

| An outdoor range is
located on the northeast side of the North Dakota side of the Bois
de Sioux Golf Course. It has set yardage targets on the front
range and a 3D course set up on the back range. Weekly
practice sessions are held for adults and youth. Educational
classes also available. The Three Rivers Archery Club sponsors
an annual 3D Shootout in Hankinson. For more information

Canoeing |

| The Red River of the
North's unique winding path, beauty and abundance of wildlife
provide endless possibilities for a variety of recreational
activities. The Red River of the North Trail Group is
developing the river for use by canoeists. The group is still
working on completing the trail with campgrounds, access sites and
maps. The complete route starts at the Headwaters of the Red
River of the North in Breckenridge and flows north 549 miles to Lake
Winnipeg in Canada. Historic Points of Interest along the
canoe route include: Headwaters Park, Fort Abercrombie, Ox
Cart Crossings, Brushvale, McCauleyville and Georgetown, to name a
